Eternity in Their Hearts --
This book is probably the most amazing thing I have ever read. A team of anthropologists in the
1800s were just sure they could disprove God's existence by studying the world's "primitive"
religions. They started with the assumption that they would find no belief in a monotheistic God.
The only problem is, what they found was exactly the opposite! From the Incas of Peru to
various tribes in India, they found all sorts of evidence of belief in a God very similar to
the One we know. Some tribes have even had revelations describing the missionaries that would
later come to tell them more about their God, and about Christ. It describes in great detail
how God prepared the world for the Gospel, and the gospel for the world.

Surprised by the Power of the Spirit/Surprised by the Voice of God, 2 Volumes in 1 --
At $10 for a 2-in-1, this one is a bargain. Many Christians believe that the gifts of the
Holy Spirit as described in Acts and Paul's letters have "died out." These books give
many, many, many solid reasons why this is not true. There is also much practical advice on
learning to apply the gifts and avoiding abuses.

Is That Really You, God? An Adventure in Hearing the Voice of God and
Making Jesus Lord -- Two books by Loren Cunningham, the founder of Youth With A Mission.
They provide practical advice for finding God's will for your life while telling fascinating stories
from the history of YWAM. Must-reads. A sequel,
Daring to Live on the Edge, discusses applying faith to finances.
- Any music by Petra -- You just can't beat it! Through popularity and
downturns, this pioneer of Christian rock has consistently put out topnotch music while being
fully committed to ministry. See my review
of their latest album, Jekyll & Hyde.
-
The Purpose Driven Life -- It's popular. It's good. Do I need to say anything else?
-
Left Behind series -- I would advise against taking the theology in these books too seriously,
but as a novel they can be a good read, and they have led people to Christ.
-
Novels by Frank Peretti -- This Present Darkness is his most popular.
-
Through Gates of Splendor -- The true story that has inspired many people, including me, to
consider missions. Five young men in Ecuador died while trying to reach a group of savages with
the Gospel. Their wives, however, completed the mission and the tribe was forever changed. (OK,
admittedly I have not yet read this book, but I need to. I have, however, been to the location
where some of this happened.)
